What: Exposure to sub-maximal exercise in an environmental chamber with expert monitoring, supervision, and advice.

How: 5-12 1-hour consecutive sessions of sub-maximal running/cycling/hiking in 30-45 °C with variable humidity (excluding weekends). SPRU members will monitor a range of physiological variables to ensure maximum benefit if acclimation program is received including core temperature, heart rate, sweat rate, sweat composition, hydration status, and perceptual feelings.

Why: Several key physiological adaptations are triggered by exercising with a core temperature of 38.4-39.2 °C. Receiving expert monitoring and guidance will ensure these thresholds are met effectively and safely.

Cost: £50 per session (usual blocks: 8x £400, 10x £500, 12x £600)
